Normally I begin with some cute story or roundabout way of introducing a guest, but there is no need to “hide the lead”. My guest is loved for one simple true and sincere reason…she is undeniably loveable. What makes her so well liked, loved, admired, revered, sought after, and adored is her uncanny relatability. You would be hard pressed to find someone more transparent and real. You won’t find them; she is the real-deal. She is as authentic as they come. I’m talking about Mary Lenaburg of course.

If Mary’s authenticity doesn’t win you over her story certainly will. Most people are aware of the immense tragedy Mary has endured. She has never held back what sadness she has faced in her life. Rarely does Mary get asked beyond just her normal stories that she is always asked to share. That’s because her experience is unique and her storytelling skills are fierce. My goal was to get a few unknown or lesser known stories out of the unofficial-official “Queen of Wisdom”. I am thrilled to say that goal was achieved.

Mary is everything you think she is and everything you want her to be. You always leave loving her more and you have no idea how that was even possible. To call her a friend is a gift. To know her heart is a honor. To love her is a privilege.

Cana Harrison | Liv's daughter's reflection on the quarantine & election

Not many kids have done what Cana Harrison has successfully done…survived as Liv Harrison’s only daughter! At 10 Cana has more of an adult outlook on life than most the adults I have met. The moment you meet Cana you are impressed with her vocabulary, her level of articulation, and the way she drifts in and out of adult and kid conversation.

Cana has had anything but a normal life. By the time she was 9 (she is only 10) she had been to all 50 states. She has been on more stages than she can count. And she understands what it means when she hears, “quiet please! Mommy is recording!” Her everyday is anything by ordinary. However, she easily wins the heart of every adult that encounters her within the first five minutes. You can tell she’s a special kid. And not because I have met her. The privilege I have in her life is the fact that I made her, but she is unique because of who she was placed on this earth to become. Her poise and “little-kid-explanations” go hand and hand. With that remember that she is 10 and still under the influence of adults, and not just me and my husband. Cana is a listener. She observes and takes in the adult world she lives in and loves. As a mother I ask that you listen with gentle ears. As a human I ask that you listen. This girl has a lot of wonderful to say.

Two words two describe this fascinating story: HAVE PATIENCE

NFL to Family Pastor, Dr. Octavious Bishop

Athleticism is not one of my natural talents. I think that’s why I admire anyone who not only chooses to live their life in a “sporty” way, but also when they make a living from that choice I am impressed! The discipline and confidence that goes into telling the world that you are an athlete is just admirable, because you do that without talking. And that I can do…talk.

Dr. Octavious Bishop can inspire the world by talking and through his athleticism. His story begins as a college football star at the University of Texas. He then played in the NFL for various teams, overseas, and in the XFL which is where he left the field to change lives. Not only did he continue to grow in his education, he began to change and develop into a human being that lived for others. Through his professional work as a counselor, professor, and pastor Dr. Bishop now inspires everyone around him, daily. Grab your favorite snack and beverage because this story is going to become one of your favorites!

Speaker, Author and Stay At Home Mom Katie Hartfiel

Often times the stage and microphone and cheer of a crowd can seem glamourous. Not that it isn’t a ton of fun! It is. But the real connection between a speaker and their audience can seem lost. When a public speaker began as a youth minister, they tend to miss their “kids”. It just isn’t the same to look out into a sea of teens and feel a bond. There is a different electricity exchanged.

This week’s guest is Katie Hartfiel. And even though she is a sought-after speaker on the Steubenville circuit she still longs to connect with the hearts she touches. Katie not only speaks to thousands of teens she is also the female face of Encounter. A young adult ministry housed by Steubenville. What captures most of Katie’s audiences is her ability to touch the feminine genius in a way that feels like home. She wrote a book about how she prepared for marriage and that has led her in high demand in women’s, Mothers, marriage, and mother/daughter ministries.
