"Howdy and welcome to Team Whitaker, where things are chaotic, funny, real and almost always entertaining. I am the mom of six - college to kindergarten - and wife to one amazing man. I grew up in the Texas panhandle and if this blog could talk you would totally hear my twang. Instead, you have to rely on the sass and my stellar writing. Of course, you can get your daily dose of southern twang via my Instagram Stories. My husband and I met on a blind date at Texas A&M. He wanted a Chi Omega sorority t-shirt and I wanted to date a man in a military uniform. Win-win. I started a freelance graphic design business in Summer 2004 and worked for construction companies, collegiate Catholic campus ministry programs, Catholic elementary/high schools, diocesan offices, religious orders and a bakery. Recently, I launched a YouTube channel (which pays no money but is an absolute blast!). Somehow, I get it all done by working around carpool, cross country meets, after morning workouts, in the late evening hours and a few random times in between.
In September 2009 I gave birth to our preemie, Luke. We became "that" family, the one everyone talks about, shakes their head and says, "I don't know how they do it." Divine intervention, a little hydrocodone, a great marriage therapist, a compassionate priest and the occasional Shiner Bock...that's how. Luke's life has redefined us, and our family.
My book, Live Big, Love Bigger, is on bookshelves and via your air pods now! It was an honor to have my good friend and SiriusXM radio host of the Busted Halo Show, Fr. Dave Dwyer, CSP, write the foreword. If you're struggling to live authentically and want to live a 'hell yes' kind of life, then this book is for you. I tell you all about it here.
In October 2021, I'm helping a lead a pilgrimage to France for women. Come join us! This one is full of authentic women (don't worry, I won't make you do a craft project, ha!), talking about real things and being guided by four exceptional saints - St. Therese, St. Bernadette, St. Catherine Laboure and St. Joan of Arc. Three priests and Christian musician, Danielle Noonan, are joining us. It's gonna be exceptional y'all. Learn more here!"

Kathryn Whitaker, Lover of BBQ & Sweet Tea
June 29th, 2020 | Season 1 | 37 mins 50 secs

This week features my favorite West Texas gal, Kathryn Whitaker. From the moment she says anything I
feel at home. Not because I’m from West Texas, but because I went to college there. We did a “freaky
Friday”. I left the city and went to the panhandle and she left the panhandle and went to…well College
Station. Pour a glass of sweet tea (although I love unsweet), crack open a Dr. Pepper, or just get a nice
cold one out of the fridge.
